What is a valve?

  1. Globe Valve:

The globe valve is used to start-stop and control the liquid in it. Globe capping occurs in an area in the system where we have to control the flow of fluid, and consider leakage and congestion of the system.

Generally, it is more expensive than gate valves. But it offers better leaks and durability than gate valves. Usually global valves are used as a control valve.

It is also used for cooling water systems, and is used to transport petrol, as well as lube oil. Its shape is globular on the underside which is why we call it a globe.

There are three types of Globe valve:

Advantages of globe valves

Applications of globe valves

Global valves are used primarily for blow purposes. They can be considered as standard purpose flow control valves used in high-performance applications.

  1. Check valve:

Check valves are used to prevent reversal in the piping system. check valves allow flow to pass only in one direction.

Whenever a back pressure is created in the system, then the check spigot closes and blocks the flow of fluid.
This is also a non-return valve. Check valves are therefore able to check and restrict flow in reversal.

There are three types of Check valves:

• Swipe check
• Piston check
• Raise a check

It contains an almost empty leak. The plug valve has been used in vacuum services, and as it can be used in high-pressure and high-temperature applications.

• Ball valves used to control the flow and pressure and to seal decaying liquid, slurries, common liquids and gases.

  1. Butterfly valve:

The butterfly valve is also a quarter turn rotating valve. It also helps control the flow i.e. start-stop.

Its main advantage is that its body is very small so it provides little space in the piping system, for this reason the butterfly valve is used in many places.

It is very compact and light and takes up very little space compared to other valves.

So it is very easy and quick to open it. In this case, the disk moves like a butterfly in a closed space.

• Eccentric Butterfly
• Wafer Type Butterfly

• Double Flange Butterfly

Advantages of butterfly valves

• Butterfly valves are very accurate, making them profitable for industrial operation.
• They are very reliable and need very little adjustment.
• They have the ability to draw water.
• Can be installed or removed without removing the plumbing system

Disadvantages of butterfly valves

• Butterfly valves do not have strong shut-off capabilities
• The other part of the disk is always presented in flow, even when fully open. This may result in a change in pressure inside the valve, regardless of the setting.

Applications of butterfly valves

The design of the needle valve is similar to the globe valve. Its main difference is that its disk looks like Needle-pointed.

This is usually used in a tool where the need for precise fluid flow is required.
This is used for a small diameter pipe.

It is widely used in systems where very low pressure can be controlled.

Applications of needle valves

It is used in every industry with a wide range of applications such as: for control or metering of steam, oil, gas, water, air, or other non-viscous liquids is required.
