Hand pumps are one of the most popular and useful invention of engineering.
You must have used the hand pump at least once in your life.
But have you ever thought, how hand pump works?
Here, you will learn about the basic working principle of a hand pump. So, read till end!
Hand pump mainly works upon reciprocating pump principle.
It consists of suction inlet, cylinder, discharge pipe, piston, piston rod, lever and foot valve.
It is also called a positive displacement pump.
When we press the lever downward, the water is drawn into cylinder and foot valve open.
Then to and fro motion of piston started. As we uplift the lever, piston moves downward and foot valve closes.
This process repeats continuously and more liquid drawn into cylinder.
Thus the water level rises and it reaches to discharge pipe. So, water flow out of pump.
